Jonathan Shane Owens, 40, of Lincoln, AL passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at his home. Born April 20, 1977 in Anderson, SC, he was a son of Calvin Michael "Mike" Owens of Lincoln, AL and Julia Elaine Nimmons Gilstrap of Liberty, SC. Jonathan Owens leaves behind so much more than the tears we will shed. He would ask you not to cry and to do his best to comfort you. He leaves us with constant love for his family and friends. A cherished reminder of his caring soul, his smile warmed a room, his eyes lit up the darkest day and his kind soul always let you know he cared. May the memories of him bring you moments of comfort and may God surround your grieving heart, for he is well with Him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Grayson James Owens of Alabama; daughter, Bethany Lane Miller of Mississippi; step-son, Hunter Williams; brothers, Shawn Owens and his wife, Heaven of Anderson, SC; sisters, Melisa Owens Courtney and her husband, Shane of Mobile, AL; stepmother, Vicky Owens; nephews, Michael Chase Owens and Brandon Lee Owens; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and four step-sisters. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Whitefield Baptist Church, Belton, SC with Rev. Jeremy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Whitefield Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at The McDougald Funeral Home.
