Jonnie Clyde Steptoe McCalpin, age 91, of 311 Simpson Road, Cottage H-2, Brookdale Anderson Place, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Rainey Hospice House. Born on January 11, 1926, in Soperton, GA, she was the daughter of the late George Steptoe and the late Ruby Claxton Steptoe. For seventy-one wonderful years, she was the devoted and loving wife of the late John Franklin McCalpin until his death in 2015. Jonnie worked as a policy clerk for Prudential Insurance Company, a job from which she retired after nineteen years of service. She was a member of Wesconnett United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, FL. Among her many hobbies, she enjoyed cooking and baking. Survivors include her son, John F. McCalpin, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Suwanee, GA; a daughter, Kathy Satterfield and her husband Dennis, of Anderson; four grandchildren, Daniel C. McCalpin, Amanda Loewen and her husband, Eric, Dennis Satterfield, Jr., Derek Satterfield and his wife, Melissa; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Beau Loewen. In addition to her parents and her husband, John, Jonnie was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Wilkes. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Jonnie McCalpin will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017, at 12 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with the Rev. Richard Busha officiating. Interment will follow at M. J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery.
