Obituary

Joseph Butler Chandler, Jr. was born to J.B. and Willie Mae Chandler on September 25, 1937 in Shreveport, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on May 28, 2022 at the age of 84 in Sugar Land, Texas. Joe grew up in Shreveport and graduated from Saint John's High School and Louisiana Tech University. After graduation he worked for The Audit Bureau of Circulation, a national newspaper auditing firm. This led to his career in circulation management and auditing with The Shreveport Journal, The Colorado Sun, The Anderson Independent and The Houston Post where he spent the last twenty years of his career before he retired. Joe enjoyed golf, bridge, poker, chess and football. He enjoyed people, never met a stranger and always had a new joke. But most of all he loved his family and was a supportive, generous, caring son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Willie Mae Via Chandler, and his sister, Patsy. Joe is survived by his wife of 42 years, Patricia McClellan Chandler; his son, Mark Chandler (Lisa); three grandchildren, Victoria Chandler, Bradley Chandler (Erica), and Annalise Chandler; sister-in-law, Nancy McClellan Atkins (Lonnie); brothers-in-law, Ron McClellan (Cathy) and Andy McClellan (Ellen); and numerous nieces and nephews.
