The McDougald Funeral Home 2211 North Main Street Anderson, South Carolina 29621 864-224-4343 OBITUARY: ANDERSON, SC JOSEPH COFFIN December 13, 1983 - October 4, 2012 Joseph Bryan Coffin, age 28, of 1402 Old Ivy Road, Anderson, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012. Born in Greenville, he was a son of W. Michael Coffin and Maria Sue Cowan Coffin of Anderson. Joseph attended Westside High School and graduated with an associate's degree from Tri-County Tech. At the time of his death, he was completing requirements for a second degree from Tri-County. In his younger days, he attended Concord Baptist Church with his family. Joseph loved his work and his leisure time. He was employed as a service technician with McGee Heating and Air. He was known for his competence, hard work, honesty and integrity. He used his leisure time very well. Joseph enjoyed motorcycle riding with a passion and he treasured his time at Hartwell Lake on the water. He loved and was devoted to his friends, family, and his dog, Nala. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother and mentor who he loved dearly, John Michael Coffin of Anderson; nephews, John Michael Coffin, Jr. and Logan Kirby, both of Anderson; maternal grandmother, Faye Cowan of Anderson, and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. Joseph also leaves behind a host of loyal, dedicated friends who made his life complete. Joseph was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Major Alvin Cowan, and his paternal grandparents, John W. and Anne R. Coffin. A funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Joseph Bryan Coffin will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 11 AM at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Don Cox and Rev. Randy Blank officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the home of Joseph's parents, Michael and Sue Coffin, 106 Creekwalk Drive, Anderson, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 6 PM until 8 PM.
