NORRISAPRIL 14, 1951 - March 19, 2009ANDERSON, SC ' Joseph Gerard Norris, age 57, resident of 2214 Ridgewood Avenue, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at the AnMed Health Medical Center.Born in Anderson, SC on April 14, 1951, he was a son of Jessie Turner Norris and the late Samuel Ernest Norris, Jr. Mr. Norris was ordained into Priesthood on May 10, 1980. He served as Director for Adult Religious Education at Saint Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Aiken, SC from 1994 ' 2002. He served as Faculty Member for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston, SC ' Institute for Parish Leadership Development. In addition, he was a Scripture Instructor for Bible Study for thirty-nine years and taught R.C.I.A. in Simpsonville, SC and Anderson, SC.In addition to his mother, his brothers & sisters survive him: Samuel E. Norris, III, Annette M. Cowan, John G. Norris, Rosemary E. Cameron, M. Kathleen Norris, and J. Anthony Norris.He was predeceased by his father and two sisters: Joan Elizabeth Norris & Mary F. Page.A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Hayden J. Vaverek. On Monday, March 23rd, Mr. Norris will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church where the family will receive friends from 6pm until 8pm.
