Joseph Thomas Willis, Sr., age 78, of Anderson, SC, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Born August 18, 1944, in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Cothran Willis and Gladys Young Willis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Willis, and a son-in-law, Eric Miles. He was the retired owner of Saturn Freight and a veteran of the US Army. He was married to Lana Willis, the love of his life, for 56 years. Above all things, Joe cherished his family. He was an avid golfer with several holes in one to his credit and a season ticket holder to his beloved South Carolina Gamecocks for 48 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Lana Simpson Willis; a son, Joseph Thomas Willis, Jr. (April); a daughter, Kris Willis Miles; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Miles, Jared Willis, Jessica Black (Drake) and Hannah Cerino (Ryan.) The family will receive friends Sunday, July 9, 2023, from 4:00 - 4:45 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The memorial service will begin at 5:00 pm in the chapel with the Rev. Jim Crittendon officiating. The family will also speak to guests following the memorial service.
