Joy Virginia Nelson Wiles, age 75, of Williamston, SC, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Regency Hospital of Greenville.
Born November 16, 1948, in Abbeville, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Clement Nelson and Virginia Floride Gable Fisher Nelson. She was married for 55 years to Carlton Edwin "Ed" Wiles until his death in 2020. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Ray Fisher.
Joy earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from Anderson College where she was an Honor Graduate Cum Laude, a member of SHRM, and the Denmark Society. She was the Human Resource Coordinator and Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Business Affairs at Anderson College for 12 years. She also previously worked for Anderson School District Two as an Administrative Assistant in Special Education. Joy also used her love of jewelry as an Independent Consultant for Premier Design Jewelry for 18 years. She was a member of First Creek Baptist Church where she served as the Treasurer/Financial Secretary, the organist for over 30 years, Sunday School Secretary, and was on the Benevolence Committee. She loved to fish and was a Dallas Cowboys fan.
She is survived by her children, Kelly LuRhonda Wiles Cox (Faron), Kevin Edwin Wiles, and Amber LeAnn Wiles Chapman (Joseph); grandchildren, Lauren Wiles Alonso (Adam), Savannah Wiles Hawkins (Spencer), Ashton Brooke LeMaster, Oliver Teagan Wiles, Joseph Ryker Chapman, and Emerlyn Slade Chapman; great grandchildren, Kaden Daniel LeMaster, Blaine Alexander LeMaster, Emelia Nabors, Adelyn Hawkins, Freddie Waters, Grayson Alonso, Addie Alonso, and Abel Alonso.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 2:30 pm at First Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Murdock officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 pm in the church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Flowers accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to First Creek Baptist Church, 9511 Abbeville Hwy., Iva, SC 29655.
The family will be at the residence.
