Joyce Dye Compton, age 90, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Summit Place of Anderson. Born February 4, 1932, in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Frank Dye and Robbie Campbell Dye. She was married to the late Thomas Carl Compton, Jr. Joyce was a graduate of Girls High and Anderson College. She was retired from JC Penny with 15 years of service to the company. Joyce was an avid reader and crossword enthusiast and enjoyed volunteering for the Cancer Association of Anderson. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and Elizabeth Circle. She is survived by her daughters, Anne C. Whitney (Al) and Caroline C. Sullivan (Van); sister, Emilie McFall (Andrew); and grandchildren, Katie Whitney and Haley Whitney Irwin (Steven). In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Carl Compton, III; and sister, Jeanette Reed. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 5, 2022, from 2:00-3:00 pm at Central Presbyterian Church. The memorial service will begin at 3:00 pm with Rev. Noelle Read officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, 1404 N. Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621. The family will be at their respective homes.
