Joyce Ann Therrien Griffin, age 89, of Clemson, SC, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at NHC Healthcare Anderson.
Born June 5, 1939, in Pittsfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Albert Valmore Therrien and Lillian Eva Charron Therrien. She was preceded in death by her soulmate and husband of 33 years, Richard Michael Griffin; and son, Michael Charles Bresette.
Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her family and friends. Always a hard worker, she found her purpose in caring for others. As a nurse, Joyce cared for strangers in the same way she cared for her family. In her personal life, she always checked on those around her and looked for ways to help. She was a bright lady who charmed everybody she met with her sense of humor. Until his passing, she spent her days with her beloved husband fixing up aging homes, maintaining a beautiful garden, and entertaining family for lasting memories.
She was an animal lover and especially loved her dogs, treating them as her fur children. She never left a bird feeder empty and gave loving pats to every cat and dog. Joyce was an active member of St. Andrew Catholic Church parish where she found comfort in her faith. She was involved in her community through neighborhood gatherings, lunch and shopping with friends, and volunteer work whenever she could find the time.
She is survived by her daughter Valerie Boatwright; stepsons Richard Griffin, Jr. and Timothy Griffin (Colleen Lekov); stepdaughter Colleen Genovese (Robert); grandchildren Alyssa Griffin, Lauren Harrelson (Adam), Colleen Williams (Trent), Lillian Scott (Adam), Melissa Genovese and Stacey Genovese; great grandchildren Anna Margaret, Cohen Michael, Barbara Claire, Amelia Myra, and another great-granddaughter on the way.
A Funeral Mass will be held on July 29, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 209 Sloan St., Clemson, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caris Healthcare, 129 Straight Drive, Anderson, SC 29625, or Pickens County Humane Society, PO Box 83, Liberty, SC 29657.
