Joyce Huckaby Jordan, age 79, of 1838 Warren Watt Rd., died at home on May 2, 2015 after a two-year battle with colon and liver cancer. Her strong faith and devotion to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, sustained her and the family during this illness. She is now enjoying eternal life in Heaven with other loved ones. Born in Anderson, SC on February 9, 1936, Joyce was the daughter of John Henry Huckaby and Vermelle Martin Huckaby. She graduated from Anderson Girl's High with the Class of '53 and attended Forrest College. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Iva for the last 25 years where she taught Sunday School several years for the Women's Sunshine Class and the Young Couples Class. She also served as Director of Iva First Learning Center for 9 years. She was active in Women's Aglow International, serving as President in the Wilmington, DE chapter and Vice President of the Abbeville, SC chapter. She enjoyed hosting a Monday night Bible study and worship in her home for 12 years and then joining a similar group in Anderson with JoAnn and Dr. George Bailey. Survivors include her husband, Gary Jordan of Iva, son, Ken Jordan and wife Jan of Iva, and the following grandchildren: Kristin and husband Joe and Baby J due in June, of Mauldin, SC, Katelin of Iva, SC, Kallie of Atlanta, GA, Kody of Clemson, SC and Kensley of Clemson, SC. The family especially thanks her dear sisters, Elaine and husband Bill, and Fredda and husband Jack, brother, J.W., close friends, nieces and nephews and Upstate Hospice for their love, care and comfort during the past few weeks. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by son Chris Jordan and brother David Huckaby. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 4, 2015 at 3:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Iva officiated by Reverend Jerry Gray of Iva First Baptist, her pastor, and Reverend Shawn Patrick Williams of Warrior Nations International Ministries, Greenwood, SC. Burial will follow at the Iva City Cemetery. The family will be at the home of her husband, Gary Jordan, 1838 Warren Watt Rd., Iva, SC and will receive friends at the church from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm. prior to the funeral.
