Joyce Stewart McCurley, age 78, went to her Heavenly Home on July 8, 2016 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born on November 8, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Harold Jesse and Margaret Harbin Stewart of Anderson, SC. Joyce was a graduate of Anderson Girls' High School, Class of '56. Her first employment was at B.F. Goodrich. Later she was employed at Evergreen Hills Baptist Church as the church secretary. She later worked with Broadway Carolina Mold and Tool as a secretary and bookkeeper and she also sold Home Interiors. For many years Joyce was a lunchroom operative for Anderson School District 5. Mrs. McCurley was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Denise M. Vanadore (Ronnie) of Daytona Beach, FL. The joy of her life were her three grandsons, Joshua Vanadore (Farrah) of Punta Gorda, FL; Justin Vanadore (Sarah), of Palm Coast, FL, and Blake Vanadore of Daytona Beach, FL; and two very special great-grandsons, Zane Sousa and Weston Vanadore of Punta Gorda, FL; a brother, Doug Stewart (Cathy), three sisters, Mary Evelyn Hutchins,. Linda S. Crocker, and Marleen Halt (Fred), all of Anderson; four adopted sisters, Pansy Mullinax, Shirley Junkins, Selma Sexton and Linda Massey; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a very special niece, Kim Crocker and a special nephew, Greg Crocker. In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by grandparents Waymon and Martha Harbin, and her former spouse, Harry Shirley McCurley. The funeral service to celebrate and honor the life of Mrs. McCurley will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Hurte and Rev. Lanny Phillips officiating. The family will be at the home of Linda Crocker, 303 Autumn Oaks, Anderson, and will receive friends at Temple Baptist Church on Monday, July 11, 2016, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. The family has invited the members of Mrs. McCurley's Sunday School Class to serve as honorary escort.
