Joyce Smith Tucker, 83, entered Heaven's gate on Friday, December 28 during the early morning hours, just the way she would have wanted to begin a new day with her Savior. Mrs. Tucker was born October 2, 1935 in Lavonia, Georgia. She graduated from McDuffie Girls High School and received her Registered Nursing degree from Baptist Hospital of Columbia. She served her community as a nurse for Dr. Robert G. Thompson of Anderson, retired from Abbeville Hospital after serving more than 20 years, and continued to serve at Willow Creek Nursing Home of Iva in her retirement. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Iva and a lifetime member of John Frances Gray OES 219. She was a daughter of the late Horace and Mary Merritt Smith. Mrs. Tucker was also preceded in death by her husband, William Randolph Tucker, Sr. She is survived by her daughter, Patty Kelley (Glenn) of Lake City , S.C.; son, William Randolph Tucker, Jr. (Debra) of Iva, S.C. and daughter, Pamela Johnson (Stacy) of Lugoff, S.C.; brother, Truman Smith of Anderson, S.C.; sisters, Wanda Shore of Rock Hill, S.C., Betty Smith of Elberton, Ga., Linda Dalton of Orange Park Florida, and sister-in-law, Gail Tucker of Iva, S.C.; grandchildren, Ashley Dooley (Corey), Kimberley Ayers (Daniel), Tucker Kelley (Heather), Sarah Grace Kelley, Sam Holden Johnson, Austin Johnson, Chris Adams, Robert Adams (Holly) and great-grandchildren, Logan, Carter, Elloree, Braxton and Natalie Grace. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:15 pm on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Iva. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 pm with Rev. Jerry Gray officiating. Interment will be in Rocky River Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Iva, P.O.
