Virginia Juanita Powell Moon, age 89, of Daniel Island, SC, formerly of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at her daughter's home holding her husband and daughter's hands.

Born on April 30, 1935, in Lyman, SC, she was the daughter of the late Roy L. Powell and Velma Conwell Powell. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Donna Moon Heh.

She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Elvin Dean "Bud" Moon; daughter, Deborah Moon Hartman (John); grandchildren, Patrick John Hartman (Elizabeth), Brett Powell Hartman, Amanda Paige Heh, and George Christopher Heh; and great grandson, Daniel Patrick Hartman.

Juanita grew up in Lyman SC. She attended Duncan Grammar School where she met Bud, her future husband of 67 years. His family moved but they met again when they were in college and have been together ever since. Juanita graduated with a Secretarial Degree from Mars Hill College. Bud and Juanita married and lived in Virginia Beach, Lyman, Knoxville and Anderson. Juanita enjoyed working in several banks and real estate companies as an office manager. She was a faithful member of Boulevard Baptist Church in Anderson, SC, for over 50 years. She taught Sunday School and Training Union classes and trained winning Youth Bible Drill participants. She was in the Senior Choir and an active member of the Baptist Women's Missionary Union. In later years she enjoyed planning activities and trips for senior citizens with her husband. Juanita was very active for many years in the Mimosa Garden Club and usher for the Senior Follies. Bud and Juanita loved traveling with friends and tour groups. Their home on Lake Hartwell was always a center of great food, fellowship and activities for family and friends. Three years ago, they moved to Daniel Island, SC, to live closer to their daughter and son-in-law.

Juanita was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family. They took many trips together and made lots of great memories. Juanita had such a positive outlook on life and always had a smile on her face. She was the perfect example of a woman of faith and quiet strength.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11:00 am at Boulevard Baptist Church. Dr. Austin Carty will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
