Judy Smiley Martin, age 76, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at her residence. Born in Cades, SC, on February 18, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Roy Smiley and the late Mary Lee F. Smiley. Judy graduated from St. Francis College of Nursing in Charleston, SC. During her career as a Registered Nurse, she retired from the Surgical Clinic of Anderson as Head Office Nurse and was formerly Charge Nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville, SC. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and of the Ladies Auxiliary at Walker McElmoyle Fire Department. She also was an avid bridge player, but her greatest joy was being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by a son, Henry C. Martin, Jr. and his wife Kristi and their children, Hank and Clay Martin; one brother, John Smiley of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Barbara Lewis and Rosemary Sabo, both of Charleston, SC; a brother-in-law, J.B. Martin, and a sister-in-law, Rebecca Browder, both of Liberty, SC. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Dr. Henry Calhoun Martin, Sr.; brothers, Billy, Roy, and Robbie Smiley; and a sister, Betty Dandridge. A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Martin Family Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating. The family will be at the home of her son Henry, 221 Martin Sausage Rd., Liberty, SC, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted.
