Julia Ann Evans Aycock, age 80, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at Rainey Hospice House.
Born September 1, 1944, in Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late Cullen and Leila Dickson Evans. She was married for 36 years to Melvin Horace Aycock until his death in 2015. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Harbert; son, Tim Smith; brothers, Junior and Billy Evans; and a sister Guynell Walker.
Julia was employed with BASF for 26 years before she retired. She was a member of Green Pond Baptist Church. She and her late husband loved to camp. They would pack up and go to various campgrounds from Anderson to Myrtle Beach. They finally decided to park the camper and settled in Franklin, NC, on the Cullasaja River.
Julia was an adventurous woman and loved the rides at the fair and white-water rafting down the Nantahala River with her children and grandchildren. She loved to crochet blankets and make jewelry and flower arrangements. She was a great mom and Memaw and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by two daughters, Fredda Jordan and Sherrie Littlefield; honorary daughters, Lynn Bramlett and Tammy Fulmer; grandchildren, Whitney Jordan, Julia Lee, and Savannah Littlefield; honorary grandchildren, Kendall and Kevin Fields, and Kolton Bramlett; and great grandchild Peyton Jordan.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 1:30-2:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Mark Dickson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Flowers are optional, and memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd., Anderson, SC, or the Alzheimer's Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
