Julia Chapman Owens, age 78, of 2023 Sheldon Drive, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on March 7, 1938 in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Victor George Chapman and the late May Powell Chapman. For almost sixty years, she was the loving wife of Robert Sherod Owens of the residence. Julia was a graduate of Anderson Girls' High School, Class of 1956. She was a member of Greenwood Presbyterian Church, Greenwood, SC. Mrs. Owens was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to her husband, Robert, she is survived by two sons, Robert Timothy Owens and his wife, Kristen, of Easley, and Mark Sherod Owens and his wife, Joy, of Greenwood; three grandsons, Michael Justin Reaves, Joshua Sherod Owens, and Robert Cole Owens; and a sister, Ann King and her husband, Larry, of Anderson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by a brother, Victor George Chapman, Jr., and a sister, Judy Ann Chapman. A memorial service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Julia Owens will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Christ Reformed Church of the Carolinas, with Reverend Doctor Alex Campbell officiating. The family will be at the residence, and will receive friends at Christ Reformed Church following the service.
