Smith, Jr., MD, of Andersonville Road, Anderson, passed away on January 18, 2014 at Richard Campbell Veterans Home. Born in Birmingham, AL on August 14, 1932 he was the son of the late Julian M. Smith and the late Gladys Moore Smith. He was a graduate of Boys High, Clemson College and MUSC. Mr. Smith went on to be a OBGYN in Greenville for 30+ years. He served in the Army from 1954-1955 and was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Baraca Radio Sunday School Class. He is survived by his brother, David Smith and his wife, Sharon of Greenville, SC; nephew, Billy Smith; niece Beth Smith of Greenville, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Strickland Smith. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 20, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the McDougald Funeral Home. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted of memorials may be made to the Charity of One's Choice.
