Julian Leroy Scott, 81, resident of the Lowndesville/Iva area died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at AnMed Health Medical Center with his family at his side. He retired from Mohawk Industries at the Rocky River Plant in Calhoun Falls, SC where he was over the water treatment plant. He was an electric bass guitar player with the Country Connection Band. Julian also served his country in the National Guard during the 50's. Mr. Scott's favorite past times included fishing, watching NasCar and the News. He enjoyed dancing and playing in the band at Lowndesville Community Center. Surviving are his three children, Yvette Scott Ruzicka and her husband, Dennis of Anderson, Kenneth Leroy Scott of the home, and Jason Alexander of Iva. Also surviving is his sister, Shirley Giles of Abbeville, SC, three step-children, Lajuana Smith of Townville, Scotty Alexander and his wife, Debora of Iva, and Melvin Alexander also of Iva; four grandchildren, Derrick Burton and Bryan Burton both of Belton, SC and Brock Alexander and Jada Alexander of Iva. Mr. Scott had three great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and seven step great-grandchildren. Julian Scott was the son of the late, J.C. "Bud" and Sallie Mae Payton Scott. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mae Joyce Scott and his sister, Lucille Scott Wiley. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 7, 2018 in the chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Huff officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens on Highway 72 in Abbeville, SC. The family will be at the home of his daughter, Yvette Ruzicka and will receive friends from 6-8 pm Saturday at The McDougald Funeral Home.
