Mr. Whitman retired from Davey Tree, Inc.Survivors include his children: Scott Posey and wife, Lucindy of Anderson, SC, Michelle Arterburn and husband, Dale of Greer, SC, and Kelli Gossett and husband, Michael of Belton, SC; the mother of his children, Linda Smith Whitman of Belton, SC; brothers: Talmadge Whitman of Honea Path, SC, and Don Whitman of Iva, SC; sisters: Linnie Ruth McCullough of Iva, SC, and Willie Kate Phillips of Iva, SC; and six grandchildren: Laura Posey, Zachary Posey, Camden Arterburn, Morgan Arterburn, Chelsie Whitman, and Olivia Gossett. In addition to his parents, Mr. Whitman was predeceased by a son, Raymond Posey.The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend James R. Lollis.
