ANDERSON, SC KATHERINE S. OWENS Katherine Greer Shaw Owens, age 88, died at the Rainey Hospice House on Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Born in Belton, she was the daughter of the late James Alvin Greer, Sr. and the late Addie Lowe Greer. Twice married she was the wife of the late Waymon Carroll Shaw and the late John Elvin Owens. Mrs. Owens was retired after many years of employment with the Belton Blanket Company. She was an active member of Eureka Baptist Church where she was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She particularly enjoyed many outings and other activities with the Boosters as long as her health permitted. She is survived by a daughter, Linda S. Cox and her husband, Benny of Anderson; 2 brothers, Alvin Greer, Jr. and his wife, Gail of Belton, and Larry Greer and his wife, Martha of Myrtle Beach; 4 grandchildren, Kenneth Shaw (Kim), Keith Shaw, Lisa Farmer (Tim), Mark Cox (Angie), all of Anderson; 5 great-grandchildren, Amy and Kelly Shaw, Grant and Drew Farmer, and Sarah Cox; a daughter-in-law, Mae Shaw Thomas of Fountain Inn, and a step-daughter, Joy Owens of Simpsonville. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Shaw. A service celebrating the life of Mrs. Owens will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 3 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Ron Fousek officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence of Linda and Benny Cox, and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM.
