Katherine Virginia Chastain Williamson, age 90, of Anderson, passed away at her home on Sunday, June 18, 2017, with her family by her side. Born on March 25, 1927 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Olas H. Chastain and the late Mary Sanders Chastain. After graduating from Pendleton High School, Katherine was a payroll clerk at Abney Mills. When Abney Mill closed, she then went to K-Mart where she was the personnel manager. Mrs. Williamson retired from K-Mart in 1987 after eighteen years of employment. She was blessed with a gift of listening and counseling and she touched the lives of many. She was of the Baptist Faith and last attended New Prospect Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley W. Coker and her husband James, of Anderson, and Joyce Fields of Athens, GA; a sister, Connie Traynum and her husband Tony, of Pendleton; grandchildren, Marty, Ricky, and Amy Williamson; Susan Yates, Russell Coker (Kim), Kelly Southard (Elliottt), Brooke Fields and Haley Smith; great-grandchildren, Megan, Meredith, Brandon, and Derrick Williamson, Krista and Lauren Yates, Zachary Coker, Lauren Barnes (Erik), Allie Elrod, Elijah Southard, and Adam and Owen Smith; also surviving are five great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents Mrs. Williamson was preceded in death by her husband the late Wilburn W. Williamson, a son, Gary W. Williamson, and a brother, Don Chastain. A graveside service to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Katherine Williamson will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017, at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, with Reverend Dr. Wayne Brewer and Rev. Pamela Brewer officiating. The family will be at their respective homes and will visit with friends following the service at Oaklawn.
