Kathleen Erwin Burdette, age 86, widow of Thomas Fred Burdette, Jr. passed away on September 23, 2014 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC on March 14, 1928, Kathleen was a daughter to the late John Erwin and the late Anice Whitfield Erwin. She was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple and enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted. What brought her the most joy was caring for her family by being a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Mitchell Burdette and his wife, Rhonda of Starr, Tommy Burdette and his wife, Wanda of Anderson, Steve Burdette and his wife Freda of Anderson, and Alan Burdette and his wife, Cathy of Columbia; 7 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family being preceded in death by her brothers, James and Hubert Erwin and her sister Johnnie Mae Moates. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Gethsemane Baptist Temple with the Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at New Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the home of Mitchell Burdette and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
