Obituary

Kathleen "Katt" Page Ayers Myers was born May 6, 1932, at home in Greenville, SC, to the late Herbert Green Page and Alice Isabelle Bowen Page. She died on Friday, November 12, 2021, at Dominion Senior Living Residences in Anderson, SC, after an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was also preceded in death by her first husband of twenty-four years, James Edgar "Bob" Ayers, her second husband of thirty-four years, William Edward "Ed" Myers, her son, Michael Scott Ayers; brothers Roy and Martin Page; sisters Frances Herbert, Edna Brewer, Inez Hightower, and Bonnell Seeger. She is survived by daughter Alisa Kay Sloan (Glen) of Georgia, son Scott Ayers of Texas, son Kelly Ayers (Mary), daughter Joni Gaston (Kelley), son William Daniel Myers (Ann), daughter Donna Hiott (Allen), daughter Pam Kelly (Ned); Grandchildren: Olivia Ivey (Russ) of GA, Madelyn Sloan of TX, Michael Ayers of TX, Brandon Cox (Whitney), Bradley Cox (Tammy), Bill Myers (Melissa) of CA, Drake Myers (Meredith), Charles Timms III (Amy), Rocky Timms (Estephanie), Kristina Hiott Brooks (David), Caroline Bridges (Justin), and Hannah Milford (Bradye), of GA. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews and twenty-one great grandchildren. "Katt," as most people called her, graduated as Valedictorian of Westville High School. She did further study at Draughon's Business College and worked in the professional world as a bookkeeper and tax accountant. But probably the most loved and appreciated part of her work life was the more than 35 years of serving as pianist at Washington Avenue Baptist Church, Greenville. Her piano playing brought joy and happiness to thousands of people over the years through weekly radio and television programs where she was at the piano. Most importantly, for her family she was a world-class wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. Some of her beloved hobbies, especially when she lived on the lake with Ed, were gardening and bird watching, fishing (as long as SHE caught the first fish!), reading "self-help" books and working through "word find" books. Her joyful demeanor was boundless when it came to sharing her love through hospitality, friendship, and her musical talent. It seemed everyone whose path crossed hers would "fall in love" with her indomitable spirit: she made each person she met feel special. She was lovingly known by her grandchildren and family by a number of special names: Granny Katt, Momma Katt, GiGi, Katt-Katt, Kit-Kat, or just Katt. The family will be at the home of grandson, Brandon Cox, and his wife Whitney, at 1200 Brown Road, Anderson, SC 29621. The family will receive friends Monday evening, November 15, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at McDougald Funeral Home, 2211 North Main Street, Anderson, SC, 29621.
