IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katie Eileen
Lovett
December 2, 1947 – June 22, 2025
Katie Eileen Yoder Lovett was born December 2, 1947, to Herbert G. and Geraldine Plank Yoder in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Katie moved from 340 Grandview Terrace, Anderson, to heaven on June 22, 2025. Her sister, Linda Johns, lives in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and her brother, C. Ray Yoder, passed away in 2018. Katie married Gene Lovett on September 16, 1967, and is survived by a son, Douglas (wife, Meredith; children, Hogan, Alma Jane, Truman and Willa) who live in Lake Elmo, MN and a daughter, Deborah White Bouts (husband, Trent; children, Zoe and Brodrick; stepdaughters, Carly, Emma and Olivia) who live in Greenville, SC. The Lovett's have many relatives and good friends in Ohio, Georgia, South Carolina and around the world.
Katie graduated from West Liberty High School in 1965, attended Bluffton College for one year and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1969. She went on to get her Masters in School Administration from Akron University. Katie taught in Ohio, then moved her way up in the Atlanta area to become CIO of the largest school system in Georgia. Katie is credited for her work bringing technology into classrooms across the country and was a leader on many national education boards.
Katie always put her family and faith first in her life. She played competitive tennis in Atlanta, along with bridge and almost every other card game with good friends. Katie and Gene celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2017, and she always provided meals to friends to honor their good times and hold them in times of sorrow.
Katie's life will be celebrated in Anderson, SC and in West Liberty, OH before joining many of the Lovett's in the Zanesfield Cemetery in Zanesfield, OH.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 11:00 am – 12:15 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in The McDougald Funeral Home Chapel at 12:30 pm with the Rev. Beverly Crowe Tipton officiating.
