Kendel Walters Anderson, SC Kendel Roy Walters, age 80, went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, November 24, 2014. Born in Hart County, Ga, on April 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Alford Loring Walters and the late Avis Isom Walters. Kendel proudly served his country in the United States Army, with 26 years of reserves and 2 years of active duty. He was the co-owner of Saylors and Walters Construction for over 35 years. Being very active in church, he served as an ordained deacon and in many other capacities throughout the years. Kendel was a member of NewLife Fellowship of Anderson. He is survived by his loving wife, of 59 years, Carolyn Schlock Walters; his children, Michael Loring Walters and his wife Gwen, Kimberly Walters Johnson, and Reverend David Kendel Walters and his wife Tina; six grandchildren, Justin Walters, of Jackson Hole, WY, Tristan Walters, Ren Johnson, Candy Yon, Wilson Kendel Walters, and Molly Walters; two brothers, Douglas Walters and his wife Patsy, and Harold Walters, and his wife Phyllis; three sisters, Lillian Hancock, Ramona Vickery, and her husband, Leon, Faye Verrett and her husband Gerald; a brother-in-law, Bobby Bost; and a special uncle, Thomas Isom. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Raye Bost. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, November 28, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend David Walters officiating. Interment will follow at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family requests no flowers, and asks that memorials be made to NewLife Fellowship, PO Box 1486, Anderson, SC 29622.
