Kenneth Hood, Sr., age 78, went to live with Jesus on Monday, September, 5, 2016. Born in Ware Shoals, SC on October 15, 1937, he was the son of the late William F. Hood and the late Mammie L. Powell Hood. Kenneth proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a credit manager for the Anderson Independent Mail where he retired after 17 years of service. He was a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church where he served as a gifted musician as a pianist for the church quartet, and served as a deacon. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Claudia Gambrell Hood; a daughter, Sandra H. Brabham (Doug) of Pendleton, SC; a brother, J.T. Hood of Pendleton, SC; a sister, Shirlynn Free (Jimmy) of N. Augusta, SC; grandchildren, Joshua York, Scott and Chris Brabham, Lori Powell and Will York; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Kenny Hood. The funeral service will be held at Varennes Heights Baptist Church on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverends Dr. Kirt Mitchell and Weldon Sellers officiating. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories in Belton, SC.
