Dr. Kenneth Preston Jones, age 72, of 126 Robinwood Circle, Starr, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, October 11, 2015, upon his death at his residence. Born on December 7, 1942, in Starr, he was the son of the late Broadus P. Jones and the late Bertha Hayes Jones. Dr. Jones was a graduate of Crescent High School, Class of 1961, and later attended Savannah Valley Bible College. He continued his education completing degree requirements for a number of colleges. He retired from Monsanto Greenwood Plant where he was employed for thirty-four years as an engineer. He later served as an associate pastor of New Prospect Baptist Church in Hartwell, GA. Survivors include a daughter, Patty Nickles and her husband, Andrew, of Hodges, SC; two brothers, Tony Jones (Dawn) of Starr, SC, and Tommy Jones (Jan) of Honea Path, SC; three sisters, Cathy Jones (Sonny Campbell) of Anderson, Elaine Wheeler (Jerry) of Anderson, and Peggy Smith (Jerry) of Starr; three grandchildren, Kerri Lauren, Emily and Cory Nickles. In addition to his parents, Dr. Jones was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Jones. The funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Dr. Jones will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Sam Duncan officiating. Interment will follow at Flat Rock Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
