Kenneth Carl Proffitt, 87, of Anderson, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Asheville, NC on October 5, 1927, he was the son of the late Oscar Bryan and Bennie Mae Burnett Proffitt. Mr. Proffitt was retired from Weirton Steel, Strip Steel Division, Weirton, WV. During WWII he served in the U.S. Navy as a reservist. He is survived by his son, James Bryan Proffitt of Anderson, one brother; William Proffitt of Chico, CA, two sisters; Doris Delong, Weirton, WV and Mary Lou Proffitt of MD. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joan Frances Lowe Proffitt, four brothers; Wayne, Donald, Neil and Charles Proffitt and one sister; Ruth Ann Thomas. Private services were held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson.
