Obituary

Kyle Russell Scott, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on June 3rd, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Kyle grew up in Honolulu, Hawai'i, where he was raised with his siblings Kelly Scott and Carolyn Peterson on the Punahou School campus by his devoted parents, Geraldine "Gerre" Scott and Charles "Bud" Scott. His childhood was marked by curiosity and a love of learning. An avid reader, he also enjoyed sports, spending countless hours playing basketball and spearfishing along the North Shore during the summers.

Kyle later moved to California to attend UC Berkeley, where he met the love of his life, Roxana. They met in their early twenties and developed a lifelong partnership that would span decades. They made countless memories through their love of music, dancing, traveling, and the friendships that meant so much to them. A proud and passionate Cal fan, Kyle could recall every statistic, roster, and historic moment across nearly every sport. His encyclopedic knowledge - and the joy he took in sharing it - became one of his most endearing trademarks.

Professionally, Kyle built a distinguished career in corporate finance, spending nearly four decades, his entire professional life, with the same company - first Hertz, and later HERC following its spin‑off. He held both U.S. and international executive leadership roles where he became an indispensable source of financial expertise and company knowledge and helped shape long-term strategy. Kyle was also sent abroad to oversee operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific, and what began as a two‑year assignment evolved into fourteen years living overseas. The family made their home in England for many years, including a few years in Germany, where they traveled and gained new experiences and lifelong memories. Kyle was deeply proud of the work he accomplished and the people he mentored and worked alongside.

After retiring, Kyle and Roxana settled in South Carolina, where they found happiness near the Blue Ridge Mountains and Lake Keowee. He cherished the beauty of the area and the slower pace of life, embracing retirement with gratitude. Most of all, he loved creating a space for his daughters and growing family to enjoy together. Kyle was also famously competitive - he loved a good game, but only if he won - a trait that brought laughter and fun to countless family moments.

Above all, Kyle's greatest joy was his daughters. He poured his heart into raising them, instilling the core values that defined his own life: kindness, compassion, forgiveness, curiosity, success, and happiness. He coached them in sports and was fully invested in their development, celebrating their strengths. Academically, he ensured they had every opportunity, and throughout their adult lives he remained a trusted sounding board for career advice and life decisions. His love for them was unwavering.

Kyle is survived by his wife, Roxana Scott, and his three daughters: Alanna Guiry (Rob), Brianna Schreier (Jon), and Shayna Scott. He was a proud grandfather and enjoyed every moment he spent with his three granddaughters - Emery Noa Schreier, Addison Tate Schreier, and Amelia Skylar Guiry. He is also survived by his siblings Kelly Scott and Carolyn Peterson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The service will begin at 4:00 pm. The service will be livestreamed via the funeral home website.
