LALAND D. LOWIE Laland D. Lowie, age 81, of 204 Frampton St., passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2, 2014, at Rainey Hospice House with his beloved family at his side. Born in Anderson on November 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Willis B. Lowie and the late M.E. Skelton Lowie. For over 62 years, he was the devoted husband of Mary Frances Westbrook Lowie of the residence. Following his graduation from Boys High School in Anderson, Mr. Lowie proudly served in the US Army. He was employed as a loom fixer with Clark-Schwebel, a position from which he retired after 33 years of service. He was a faithful member of Broadway Lake Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir. He was a Mason and a two time Past Master of Ruff Lodge 240, Anderson York Rite Bodies, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Hejaz Temple of the Shrine, and held various offices within many of these organizations. In addition to his wife, Mary Frances, Laland is survived by 2 daughters, Cynthia Campbell and her husband, David, of Belton, and Fredner E. Tilley and her husband, Johnny, of Anderson; a brother, Ordway Lowie and his wife, Bonnie, of Anderson; 2 sisters, Mary McCoy of Anderson, and Sandra Duncan of Starr. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowie was preceded in death by a son, Tony Wayne Lowie and a sister, Nettie Sue Lyons. The Funeral Service to celebrate and honor the life of Laland Lowie will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, with Rev. Early Tucker and Rev. Dwight Greene officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 4, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.
