Lance Corporal James Ray Davenport, of the US Marine Corps, died while serving our country in Iraq on the morning of Wed. Nov.2, 2006 at the age of 20.James was born Dec.31, 2985 in Independence MO. He spent the first few years of his life in Archie, MO. At the age of 5, he moved to Danville, IN where his family still resides. From kindergarten through the 8th grade, James attended Kingsway Christian School in Avon, IN. James attended Bethesda Christian School in Brownsburg, IN from the 9th grade until he graduated on May 25, 2005. Prior to graduation, James joined the US Marine Corps on Jan.12th 2005. On Aug.16, 2005, James began his basic training at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, CA for additional training, until he was stationed at Kaneohe Bay, HA in Feb.of 2006. ON Sept.13, 2006 James was sent to the Anbar Province of western Iraq to serve for a 7 mo.tour with his fellow Marines. Unfortunately, his service was cut short when he Humvee he was driving ran over an IED, killing him instantly. James will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
