Born in Anderson, SC on January 17, 1935, he was a son of Mildred 'Granny' Bridges and the late James Cansel Bridges. Mr. Bridges served four years in the United States Army. He retired from the textiles industry and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Temple. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Annette Ramsey Bridges of the home; children: Kim Free, Timmy Free and wife, Mary Free, and Misty Martin and husband, Randy Martin, all of Anderson; brothers: Joe Bridges of Pendleton and Clyde 'Buggy' Bridges of Anderson; sisters: Julie Church of San Antonio, TX, Frances 'Pinky' King, Mary Hammonds, and Sara Osborne, all of Anderson; five grandchildren: Jennifer Free, Jordon & Tyler Free ' both of whom were reared in the home; and Alexander & Gabriel Martin; and one great grandson, Chandler Justice.In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred Brooks Bridges; his son, Brian Free; and two brothers, Jimmy & Grady Bridges.The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home conducted by the Reverend Sam Duncan. Interment will follow in New Silver Brook Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Gethsemane Baptist Temple, Post Office Box 13228, Anderson, SC 29622.
