Larry Edward Bishop, 72, of Anderson, SC, devoted and dedicated husband to Lynn Jeremias Bishop for 50 years, was welcomed to his new and healed body on December 24, 2020, while his loving wife held his hand.
He was born in Cairo, GA, on August 5, 1948, to proud parents, Rosa Bishop, and the late Lester Bishop, Sr.
Larry graduated from Cairo High School and was involved in many clubs and sports. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Enterprise with four years active duty. He also served two years in the reserves in Tallahassee, FL. He was a graduate of Bainbridge Junior College and Valdosta State University earning his bachelor's in business management. He began his career as the very first employee for Torrington located in Cairo, GA (Timken, Koyo, JTEK) working for over 38 years where he later retired. Through those years he worked in Cairo, GA, Rutherfordton, NC, Calhoun, GA, Pulaski, TN, Czech Republic, South Africa, Honea Path, SC, and Greenville, SC.
Larry enjoyed playing golf, world traveling, wood working, sudoku, and being near an ocean or a pool. He loved a variety of music and always wanted to dance. He also selflessly volunteered his time to coach football and baseball in Cairo, GA, as well as Rutherfordton, NC.
He is survived by his daughter, Llarie Bishop Michael of Rutherfordton, NC, and his son, Lougan Bishop (Maren) of Nashville, TN; grandchildren who he loved, Steele Michael (Emily) of Forest City, NC, Savannah Michael of Cary, NC, and Simon Bishop of Madison, TN; brothers, Lester Bishop (Vivian), and Charles Bishop (Rhonda), both of Cairo, GA; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws that circle the globe.
In addition to his father, Larry was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Fedrico and Agnes Jeremias.
