Larry Jerome Smith, 81, of Anderson, SC, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at AnMed Medical Center.
Born and raised in Anderson, he was the son of the late Joseph Glen Smith and Ethel Lee Roberts Smith. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Nancy Ashley Smith; his son, Christopher Blake Smith; his daughter, Lynley Suzanne Smith; and sisters, Betty Herring, Brenda Smith and Velma Benton.
Larry dedicated his life to craftsmanship as a skilled cabinet maker and was the proud owner of Smith Cabinets. He honorably served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Larry was of the Baptist faith and attended Second Baptist Church in Belton, SC.
Larry was a skilled cabinet maker and was an incredibly hard worker who loved creating treasures with his hands. Even after retirement, his passion for woodworking never faded, and he spent hours making beautiful wooden trinket boxes, bowls, and spoons. Being able to pass down his trade to family in the art of wood working was one of his greatest and proudest accomplishments.
An outdoorsman at heart, Larry found peace and joy in nature. He loved fishing, camping, vegetable gardening, and had a particular passion for trout fishing. His home was also brought to life by his love for his two cherished donkeys.
Above all, Larry was a devoted family man. His deepest love was always for his family, and his legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and love will live on through them.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Holiday Smith; his son, W. Ashley Smith (Cassy); stepchildren, Angie Hunt (Greg) and Scott Holiday; brothers, Doug Smith and Troy Smith; and grandchildren, Warren Smith (Madison), Bradley Waters (Madison), Caleb Waters, Griffin Holiday, and Chase Holiday.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at North Anderson Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 3:30 pm. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Veterans Mausoleum.
