LARRY POWELL August 14, 1939 - June 30, 2008ANDERSON, SCMr. Larry Edward Powell, 68, husband of Linda 'Lynn' Mize Powell of 3424 Hwy. 81 North, passed away June 30, 2008 at the Rainey Hospice House.Born August 14, 1939, in Anderson, Mr. Powell was the son of the late Guy Edward Powell and Sara Blume Powell. He was retired from White Jones Hardware. He was a member of Whitefield Baptist Church. Mr. Powell was also a mason in the Hiram Masonic Lodge #68 F&AM, a former deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Little League Coach for the YMCA and the Anderson Recreation Center.Survivors include his wife; son; David Chad Powell; daughter, Kim Elizabeth Powell Powell, son-in-law, John H. Powell; granddaughter Kinley Elizabeth Powell, all of Anderson; sister, Barbara Lollis of Williamston, brothers, Doyle Powell of Starr, Tommy Powell of Anderson; several nieces and nephews. A sister, Brenda Powell predeceased him.The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, July 3, 2008 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Charles D. Strickland and Reverend Bobby Smith officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, July 2, 2008.Flowers are optional.
