Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.Born in Anderson, SC on November 30, 1935 to the late Lonnie Speares and Azalea Brooks Speares, Larry graduated from Boys High School and served in the US Air Force. He retired from Flour Daniel and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.In addition to his wife of the home, Larry is survived by his son, Greg Speares (Cheryl) of Charlotte, NC; his daughter, Wendi Speares of Greenville, SC; three stepchildren, Tina Waddell (Jeff) of Traveler's Rest, SC, Michael Gillespie of Simpsonville, SC and Zachary Powell of Williamston, SC; and three grandchildren, Grant, Cailyn and Lauren Speares.In addition to his parents, Larry was predeceased by his first wife, Linda Wilson Speares and his brother, Gary Speares.The Funeral Service and receiving of friends will begin at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Canaan Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors.The family will be at their respective homes and wish to offer special thanks for the Hogan's Heroes who cared for Larry.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richard M.
