Laura Jean Bowen, age 71, passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at the Rainey Hospice House. Born in Anderson, SC on April 12, 1945, she was the daughter of the late James Clayton and Margaret Elizabeth Cole Madden. She was a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church in Sandy Springs, SC. She is survived by her loving children, Lonnie Stanley (Carol), of Anderson, SC, and Melissa Shirley (Brad), of West Union, SC; step-children, Greg Bowen (Peggy), of Anderson, SC, Steve Bowen (Anita), of Easley, SC, Nancy Simmons (Don), and Carol Dickerson (Jason), both of Anderson, SC; a brother, Jerry Madden, of Anderson, SC; six grandchildren, Randy and Joe Stanley, Mistie Bright, Brandy Shirley, Kayla Stanley, and Brooklyn Shirley; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Bowen; a brother, Bobby Madden; and a sister, Evelyn Madden Whittaker. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home on Friday, January 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Charles Foster and Reverend Brad Shirley officiating. Interment will follow at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery.
