Laura Eleanor Bailey Grant, age 100, met her heavenly Father on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at her home in Anderson, SC surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 23, 1918 in Hartwell, Georgia and was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being one of 11 children of the late Henry Bailey and the late Myrtice Gurley Bailey. She was a former receptionist for Anderson Memorial and retired in 1995 with 20 years of service and was a lifetime member of Oakwood Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Jean English, and her husband Frankie; sons, Johnny R. Grant and his wife, Susan, and Gary A. Grant, and his wife Kay; son-in-aw, Leroy Snider; brother-in-law, Rev. Ray Grant (Betty) and sister-in-law, Nell Bailey. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, Julie Vernon, Wendy Thrift, Rusty Snider, David Snider, Laurie Priester, Kristie Brown, Grant English, Shannon Sheriff, Jonathan Grant, Paul Grant and Ashley Rivera; 26 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph A. Grant; daughter, Rachel Grant Snider; along with 5 brothers, FO Bailey, Eber Bailey, Denver Bailey, Sidney Bailey and Gerald Bailey and 5 sisters, Lessie Powell, Cora Ayers, Ruby Vickery, Clara Wilson and Judy Wilson. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00pm Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1:30 pm Wednesday with Rev. Ken Thrift and Rev. Guy Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Old Silver Brook Cemetery. The family will be at the home.
