Laura Jane Hammonds Powell, age 57, of Anderson, SC, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2024, at AnMed Medical Center.

Born September 22, 1966, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of Mary Elizabeth Bridges Hammonds and the late Willie Neal Hammonds. She was also predeceased by a brother, Lynn Hammonds.

Jane loved people. She dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was known to everyone as Ganny. The name was first given by her grandchildren, which spread throughout the neighborhood. Ganny loved kids and kids loved her. There was nothing more precious to her than her grandchildren. She had a routine of certain television shows she just could not miss. During her soap opera hour, all the kids knew to be quiet; Ganny's show was on the tv. She is going to be missed by her family and friends for her unconditional love, kindness and dedication.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Willie Powell, Jr.; daughters, Nikki Martin (David); Kerri Powell (Paul Slack), and Lauren Powell; son, Chancey Powell; brother, Luke Hammonds; sister, Cindy Patterson; the joys in her life, grandchildren, Adam Campbell(Callie), Amiyah Rouse, Amelia Martin, Malaya Harris, Kaiden Slack, Paisley Slack and Le'Asia Burns; and her precious great grandchildren, Charlee Campbell and Talynn Campbell.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in the chapel of the McDougald Funeral Home at 3:30 pm. Reverend Wayne Adams will officiate. The family will gather with friends following the service.
