Mrs. Lavenia Buchanan Cargill, age 83, wife of the late Roy Cargill, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Rainey Hospice House.Born in Anderson on August 10, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Hiriam Major Buchanan and Luegania Carrie Shaw Buchanan. She graduated from Anderson Girls High School and retired from J.P. Stevens Appleton Mill after twenty-seven years of service. Mrs. Cargill was a member of Eureka Baptist Church.Survivors include her son, Douglas R. Cargill and wife, Cheryl Watts Cargill of Summerville, SC; brother, Jasper Buchanan of Anderson, SC; grandchildren: Erin Latham and husband, Chip Latham, and Chandler Cargill and wife, Tina Cargill; and great grandchildren: Zachary 'Zach' Latham, Hannah Wells Latham, Elijah Latham, and Julian Cargill.In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by sisters: Alberta Chapman and Etrulia Covar; and brothers: Glynt 'Pinky' Buchanan, Major Buchanan, and Clyde Buchanan.The Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, July 27, 2009, at Eureka Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Dr. Ron Fousek and the Reverend Robert Dickard.
