Dorothy LaVerne Carnes Thomason, age 86, of Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at her home.

Born June 5, 1939, in Anderson, SC, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Carnes and Gertrude Duckett Carnes. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy Alane Thomason, and a brother, Charlie Carnes.

LaVerne was a wonderful Christian lady who loved the Lord and leading others to Christ. She taught grace, was kind, humble and saw the good in everyone. She loved her family and was happiest when she was with her husband, her children, and her grandchildren. She loved flowers and spending time at the beach. LaVerne was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, Rev. Dr. Glenn H. Thomason; sons, Tony Thomason and Brad Thomason (Trish); daughter, Melanie Thomason Cowsert (Brian); grandchildren, Carter Spiers (Michael), Abby Overton (Blake), Chelsea Roh (Josh), Bryce Thomason (Kayla), Jessica Thomason, Lauren Glenn (Sam), and Jacob Thomason (Carmen); and 12 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 2:00-2:45 pm at Temple Baptist Church. LaVerne's "Homegoing Celebration" will begin at 3:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Glenn Thomason officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
