Dr. Lawton Harris Salley, Jr. MD, age 54, of Anderson, SC, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 31, 2023.

Born April 15, 1969, in Orangeburg, SC, he was the son of Dr. Lawton Harris Salley, Sr. and the late Johannah Virigina Hund Salley.

Dr. Salley was a 1991 graduate of Wofford College and 1995 graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his residency in otolaryngology at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. He practiced at Anmed Medicus ENT in Anderson for 23 years .

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Murphy Salley; daughter, Hannah Lynne Salley of Charleston, SC; son, Lawton Harris Salley, III of Anderson, SC; brother, George Mackay Salley (Kelli) of Spartanburg, SC; and sister, Vivian Salley Skelton (Marshall) of Wilmington, NC. He loved his nieces and nephews, Marshall Jr., Maggie, and John Skelton and Mac, Dorothy and Bennett Salley. He is also survived by his father, Dr. Lawton Salley, Sr., MD. He was preceded in death by his mother, AnnJi Salley.

Lawton can only be described as a man of adventure. Whether he was fishing, scuba diving, skiing, hunting, whitewater kayaking or traveling, he was always up for the next experience. He didn't just participate, he pushed himself and those with him to squeeze the most out of life. He would ride the wildest rapids, ski the steepest slopes, and catch the biggest fish. He was a devoted physician and was committed to providing the highest care for his patients.

His greatest joy was doing these activities with his family whom he loved fiercely. Time spent with Debbie, Hannah and Harris were his happiest moments. He brought fun and laughter the second he walked into the room. He lived life to the fullest and shared this passion with all of those who had the joy of being a part of his adventures.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023, at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Anderson with Dr. Dennis Tedder officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church in the Welcome Center.
