Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC.Born in Starr, SC on October 23, 1932, Mr. Mitchell was a son of the late J. S. Mitchell and Mary Jane Gary Mitchell. He was retired from Orr Lyons Mill with more than 30 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post #184. He was a member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church.Survivors include sons, Alan Mitchell and Scott Mitchell, both of Anderson, SC; daughters, LuAnn Junkins, Jo Beth Maxwell and Carlene Gump, all of Anderson, SC; brothers, Charles, James, Winford, Sam and Marcus Mitchell, all of Anderson, SC; sisters, Alice Crump, and Mae Isom of Anderson, SC; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, George, Olin, S. A., and David Mitchell; a sister, Reba Hall; six half-brothers and sisters.The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home officiated by the Reverend Thomas C. Maxwell. Interment will follow in Old Silverbrook Cemetery in Anderson, SC with Military Honors by Campbell Patriots Post #184.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 18, 2006 from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.The family will be at the home of his daughter, Jo Beth Maxwell, 106 Gregory Court, Anderson, SC and at the home of his sister, Mae Isom, 615 Country Meadows, Anderson, SC.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 521 N.
