LENA ALEXANDER IVESTEROctober 21, 1925-August 1, 2009ANDERSON, SCLena Alexander Ivester, age 83, of 418 Woodcrest Drive, wife of the late Neal Boyd 'Buddy' Ivester, Sr., died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at her residence.Born in Anderson on October 21, 1925, Lena was the daughter of the late Arthur R. Alexander and Sudie Scott Alexander. She was a graduate of Girls' High School and was an avid basketball player. She retired from Anderson Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator. She was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, attending the Cokesbury Sunday School class and the Julia Camp Circle.Survivors include three loving sons, David B. Ivester, Neal B. Ivester, Jr. and his wife Donna, all of Anderson, and Mark A. Ivester and his wife Janice, of Greenville; three wonderful grandchildren, Neal B. 'Trey' Ivester, III, Lisa Marie Ivester, and Jakob Dylan 'Jake' Ivester. Lena is also survived by four brothers, L.G. Alexander, David B. Alexander and Marshall Gaines Alexander, all of Anderson, and J. Ken Alexander of Florida.The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend Paul Frey. Interment will follow in New Silverbrook Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM.The family will be at the residence.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621 or Meals on Wheels, PO Box 285, Anderson, SC 29622.The McDougald Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
