Obituary

Leon E. Dedeaux, Jr. Leon Edward Dedeaux, Jr., age 89, of Anderson, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Born on January 14, 1925, in Gulfport, MS, he was the son of the late Leon Edward Dedeaux, Sr., and the late Caroline Lichtenstein Dedeaux. For 53 years, he was the loving and devoted husband of Claire Fagga Dedeaux until her death in 2005. Mr. Dedeaux proudly served his country in the US Army where he was assigned to the Pacific Theater during WW II. He was a graduate of University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned a bachelor's degee in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration. He retired from a 36 year career as an Engineer with General Electric. Leon was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was very active in the Boy Scouts of America where he served as a scout leader and as a unit commissioner. Mr. Dedeaux was an avid bowler, being a member of several bowling leagues around Anderson and enjoyed playing golf as long as health permitted. He enjoyed traveling around the world with his wife during his retirement. Survivors include a son, Charles E. Dedeaux, Sr. and wife, Rosalyn, of Anderson; two daughters, Deborah J. Kreifels and husband, Douglas, of Niskayuna, NY, and Kyna Dedeaux-Larsen and husband, Lief, of Scotia, NY; a brother, Louis Dedeaux and wife, Barbara, of Pensacola, FL; two sisters, Iris Hogan of Kerrville, TX and Dorothy Pape and husband, George, of Boynton Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Kevin Kreifels, Sven Larsen and wife, Kelly, Erik Larsen, Charles Dedeaux, Jr., Claire Dedeaux, and Catherine Dedeaux; 2 great-grandchildren Jonathan and Marcus Larsen; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Claire, Leon was preceded in death by a grandson, Tage Larsen. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Ignatious Smith and Bro. Henry Fulmer officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer vigil to be held at 7 p.m. Donations in memory of Leon E.
