Leon Martin Hyers, 84, of Anderson, SC, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 at Rainey Hospice House.
Born August 8, 1935 in Neptune, NJ, he was the son of the late Leon Ambrose Hyers and Margaret Martin Hyers.
Leon was a 1956 graduate of Manasquan High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served his country from 1956-1960. He retired from PepsiCo in Asbury Park, NJ after 36 years of service with the company. In 1999, he and his wife moved to Anderson, SC. Leon was a 4th degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus and in his spare time, he enjoyed building model ships. In 2007, he was baptized into the Catholic faith and became a parishioner of St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church where he and his wife served as Holy Communion Ministers.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Barbara Holt Hyers; daughter, Michelle Badger and husband, David; grandchildren, Thomas Andrew Badger and Laura Elizabeth Badger; and cousin Marion Jubert.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Marvin Hyers and many cousins.
The family will have a private service in The Courtyard of The McDougald Funeral Home with military honors. Burial will take place at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
