SEIGLERAugust 30, 1925 - March 27, 2012IVA, SCLeonard 'Shorty' Everett Seigler, age 86, husband of the late Alva Louise Kelley Seigler, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at his residence.Born in Anderson County, 'Shorty' was the son of the late 'T. E.' Seigler and Bessie Thornton Seigler. After graduating from Iva High School, he served in World War II while in the US Navy. He worked for many years with the Daniel Construction Company as a pipefitter and was an avid cattle farmer. He was a member of the American Legion, and loved the fellowship, fun, and dancing with everyone at the Lowndesville Community Dance Association. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.He is survived by a daughter, Sharon S. Mauldin of Iva; granddaughter, Sherry 'Berry' Mauldin, and his special sweetheart, Peggy Bridgman.He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; brother, Thomas Seigler; sisters, Amelia Bolt, Ophelia Metz, and infant sister, Sara Seigler; and a son-in-law, Joe Berry Mauldin.Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 29, 2012, at 4:00 pm at the Iva City Cemetery with the Reverend Mike McMillion officiating. The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home Thursday, March 29, 2012, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Iva Rescue Squad, 9715 Highway 81 south, Iva, SC 29655 or Union Baptist Church Building Fund, 703 Barnes Station Road, Iva, SC 29655.
