Lester Lowry Brock, age 78, of Starr, SC, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023, at Rainey Hospice House. Born August 6, 1944, in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late James Hamond Brock and Annie Mae Campbell Brock. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Hamond Brock, James Winford Brock, Herbert Brock, and Joel Brock; sisters, Francis Bell and Audrey Taylor. Lester was a veteran of the United States Air Force and enjoyed a long career as a contractor. He was an avid guns man and longtime shotgun shooting instructor. He also served as the head coach of the Crescent High School Elite Shooting Team. When he wasn't on the gun range or at a competition, he enjoyed hunting. Lester was a devoted family man and nothing gave him greater joy than spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Brock Brown (Richard) of Starr, SC; son, Christopher J. Brock of Danielsville, GA; grandchildren, Eric Brown, Brenda Lowing, and Jessie Lowing; great grandchildren, Haleigh Brown, Morgan Brown, and Kaydence Brown; friend, Brenda McGee of Hartwell, GA; and sisters, Caroline Sisk (Eddie) and Mildred Dickson both of Anderson, SC. The family will receive friends Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 1:00-2:45 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Mark Dickson and Rev. Harvey Hughes officiating. A private committal service will be held at a later date at M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Crescent High School Elite Shooting Team, c/o Rick Dodgens, 1285 Martin Rd., Starr, SC 29684.
