BROWN, SR.November 7, 1935 - July 1, 2011Anderson, SC ' Levis O'Neil Brown, Sr., age 75, husband of Joan McGuire Brown, of 114 Stancil Road, passed away Friday, July 1, 2011 at his residence.Born in Starr, SC on November 7, 1935 to the late Sidney Johnson Brown and Mary Elizabeth 'Beth' Simpson Brown, Levis retired from Owens Corning with 27 years of service. He was a founding member of the Grove Community Fire Department, a member of the Elk Lodge #1206, and a member of Covenant Baptist Church. Levis was an avid gardener.In addition to his wife of the home, Levis is survived by his son, Pete Brown, Jr. of Reno, OK; his daughter, Kadena Chambers and her husband Rick of Iva; a brother, A.N. Brown and his wife Betty of Iva; four sisters, Hazel Gable and Sabra Ann Gentry, both of Iva, Mildred Anderson and her husband Charles of Starr, and Margie Hicks of Anderson; three grandchildren, Kristen Purdy, Tamara Machen and Justin Brown; two great-grandchildren, Leah and Lily Purdy; and long-time friend, Floyd Smith.The Funeral Service will be held at 4:30 PM on Sunday, July 3, 2011 in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with the Reverends Steve Silvey, Ed Hunsinger and Delano McMinn officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum.The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The McDougald Funeral Home prior to the service from 2:30 PM until 4:00 PM on Sunday.
