Lewis Franklin Swaney, 82, of Pendleton, SC, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021, at AnMed Health Medical Center. Lewis was born November 19, 1938, in Pendleton, SC, a son of the late B.F. Swaney and the late Eunice Powell Swaney Smith. Lewis retired from Milliken in 2004, after 45 years of service as a Utilities Engineer. Having been one of seven children, he learned early on the value of hard work. He was reared in a Godly home and taught Faith, Family, and love. He loved his family, neighbors and would be the first to help others. A soft-spoken man, humble, yet strong and determined to always do and be the best. He was a wonderful husband, father, Papa, son, and brother and will be missed. Lewis enjoyed traveling and being out on the lake with family and friends. He was a Mason and a member of Fants Grove Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife of 63 years, Frances Sosebee Swaney, whom he affectionately called "My Baby Doll"; children, Debra Goss (David), Wayne Swaney, and Melanie Wilson; sisters, Loretta Hendricks (Leroy) and Shelby Stamey (Jim); brother, Ernest Swaney (Judy); six grandchildren, Michelle, Jody, Trevor, Chase, Gavin, and Brian; 17 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Harold Swaney, Joyce Long, Willie Mae McAlister, and Faye Kendall; and great-grandson, Silas Wilson. The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 17, 2021, from Noon until 1:30 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow visitation in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Castro officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, Clemson, SC. The family will be at the residence.
